The Future by Miranda July
The San Francisco International Film Festival presents an impressive slate of films from around the globe between April 21st and May 5th at three venues around the city. These venues, it should be noted, are among the best places in San Francisco to watch movies: the Sundance Kabuki in Japantown, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the historic Castro Theater in the Castro District.
The festival includes documentaries such as American Teacher, which chronicles the experiences of four teachers in different regions of the country; films from new American directors such as The Future, visual artist turned director Miranda July´s second movie; and films from countries such as South Korea, Denmark, and Japan. Notable Spanish language films include Asleep in the Sun, by Argentina's Alejandro Chomski; Nostalgia for the Light by Chile's Patricio Guzman and Black Bread by Spain's Agusti Villaronga. Among the 188 films from 48 countries, there is sure to be something for everyone.
