Jelly's Cafe

The weather is warming up again in the Bay, and that means one thing for sure – Sundays at Jelly’s will be jumping off soon. How does a nice cold sangria sound on a hot afternoon? How about if you were drinking it while sitting on a pier in San Francisco, listening to great local Latin bands play live? Welcome to Jelly's.

Jelly’s is the classiest part of a Sunday trifecta – including Allegro Ballroom in Emeryville and Caribbean Gardens in South San Francisco – that has local dancers smiling all spring and summer long. The best bands and DJs play there, including Louie Romero’s Mazacote, Orquesta La Moderna Tradicion, Avance, Borinquen, Montuno Swing… my legs feel tired just listing them all. The crowd is cool, a typically Bay Area blend of Gringos and Latinos from every country in Latin America.

There is also delicious rice, beans and roasted chicken to be had. Come check out Jelly’s at Pier 50- you can even watch the ships roll in, and watch them roll away again.
