Cantina

In the search for interesting culinary or drinking experiences in this great city, there always needs to be some expectation management, as experiences may vary. However, once in awhile you find places that are consistently excellent.   One of those is the bar Cantina, which is located near Union Square and offers a cozy yet vibrant environment where the only thing muffling the sounds of the very active bartenders is the house D.J., who spins an ecclectic set of music.

As for the drinks, Cantina offers “specifically handcrafted culinary cocktails, wines from Latin appellations, and locally brewed beers.”  Working with premium spirits, homemade bitters, syrups, infusions, classic seltzer and the all-important hand squeezed citrus, the talented barmen and women of Cantina shake exquisite hand made cocktails such as a top notch Pisco Sour or one of their “Cocktails de Culinaire” such as the “Milk of Millenia’’, which lists its ingredients as sagatiba cachaça pura, VeeV açai distillate, muddled mint & ginger, lemon, agave nectar, and ginseng drizzle.

This is a great place to star or finish your evening.  The only requirement is a little patience, since these are not mass-produced drinks, but handcrafted culinary cocktails.  Enjoy.
