Foreign Cinema
Foreign Cinema is a must visit for anyone new to San Francisco, or for locals who haven’t gotten around to it. Located in the heart of the Mission’s old theatre district, Foreign Cinema has a small unassuming movie-theatre-style entrance; it opens into a long, candle lit hallway leading into the heart of the restaurant.
The atmosphere is warm, friendly, and inviting, with a friendly and knowledgeable staff. There is a film projected on the back wall of the courtyard every night of the week with sound coming through old 'drive in' movie theatre sound boxes posted throughout the dinning room. The great ambiance is outdone only by the quality of the food. The dishes are prepared in a unique blend of classical technique, using local, farm fresh organic ingredients with North African and Indian influences. It is hard to go wrong on this menu, but the fried chicken is always out of this world. It is also one of the best brunch spots in the city. Reservations are a must if you want to be there on Saturday or Sunday morning.
They are open for dinner service seven nights a week, brunch Saturday and Sunday, and they have a great special events program. You can find all the information you need on their website.
