Sanraku: Amazing Sushi
Sanraku restaurant is one of those places where there is often a line, but patrons wait because they know that the meal is well worth the wait. I recently went to the Sutter Street restaurant and enjoyed an amazing meal. I even tried some things I wouldn't normally eat, and it was all delicious.
Have you ever eaten monkfish liver? Neither had I until Sanraku. It doesn't sound appetizing. But the taste is like a fine foie gras. You can eat this as an appetizer before your sashimi and sushi arrive. The fish is fresh and the sushi is expertly crafted. I particularly enjoyed the spicy yellowtail roll, which had a nice mix of soft fish and crunchy crab. Everything was accompanied by hot sake and a plate of melon was served to cleanse the palate after our meal. The service was attentive and the atmosphere is festive, if a bit crazy. I strongly recommend Sanraku.
