San Francisco is an especially nice place to visit at Christmastime. The city skyline lights up at night, and there are plenty of sights to see during a casual daytrip. A good place to start is Union Square, center of the city's retail shopping hub and home to a giant Christmas tree and an ice skating rink that is open until January 16th.
