SF Carnaval Poster
Each year the San Francisco Cultural Arts Traditions (SFCAT) puts on San Francisco's Carnaval. The goal of the organization and the festival is to make multiculturalism a tangible reality by uniting people in the celebration of cultural arts traditions through music, dance, artistry and food.
As with past events, the 2011 San Francisco Carnaval promises nothing less. On Memorial day weekend, May 28 - 29, the festival promises to draw hundreds of thousands of people for two days of dancing Salsa, Samba, Reggae, Tango, Hip- Hop, Merengue, Calypso, Cha Cha Cha, Cumbia, and Mambo into the evening. Food vendors, crafts, large stages featuring continuous entertainment are all part of this great event kicking off summer in San Francisco..
The Festival will feature the following:
• Dance Pavilion – musicians & dancers teach salsa, samba & much more
• Health Pavilion – providing extensive information, referrals & health screening
• Drum Grove – learn to play from professional drummers
• Niñolandia – games, break dancing, scholarships to face painting
• Food Pavilion
• Stages of Live Entertainment – non stop entertainment
• Soccer Pavilion
• Zona Verde (Green Zone) – eco friendly products and exhibits
