Ski Festivals
This past week I was notified via email that Kirkwood had received its first snowfall of the season. That, combined with a recent trip to look at winter ski leases for the annual Tahoe cabin rental, is igniting some thoughts of snowstorms, powder and long drives up to the mountains. For those of you who only head up a couple of days during the season, there is not a need for ski leases, season passes or the like, however it is a great time to look at new clothing that is hitting the stores. This is also the season in San Francisco where the filmmakers and equipment companies promote the sport through the Ski Festivals and Movies to stoke the memories of epic powder.
Two of these events are:
1. San Francisco Ski & Snowboard Festival
November 6-7, 2010
Fort Mason Center's Festival Pavilion
Featuring booths from most major resorts, sales from winter gear retailers, wine and beer tasting options, great deals and lots of free swag (including lift tickets), this exhibition is assured to get you in the mood for ski season. While General Admission tickets to the San Francsico Festival only cost $20, it will probably be a little more expensive as you may walk out with some new gear.
2. TGR's Light the Wick: The award winning producers at Teton Gravity Research (TGR) present their newest ski film, Light The Wick. Shot using film, HD and 3D technology, Light The Wick is about sparking the flame and watching the world's best athletes blast off.
November 3, 2010 @ The Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco: Tickets are available now at: www.tgrtix.com/tickets/ltw
1st Show: Doors at 5:30 / Show Time at 6:30
2nd Show: Doors at 8:30 / Show Time at 9:30
