The Stern Grove Festival
If you are looking for something to do on a summer Sunday, look no further than Stern Grove. Nestled in a redwood grove on the outskirts of San Francisco, is a unique park, and, as it turns out, also a concert venue. Forget the excessive ticket, drink and food prices, the Stern Grove Concerts offer great music and a relaxing atmosphere all at the best price ever: FREE (Donations are welcome and recommended).
Essentially a great place for a picnic with great music, the venue is non-traditional in that people set up blankets wherever they can; it is unique among San Francisco's Summer Festivals. There are no seats, and unless you get there very early, you may be picnicking on a hillside behind a tree; however, the freedom of bringing your cooler with food and drink and the price make up for the minor inconvenience of life without a cup holder.
