Soundway Records presents....Afro Tropical Soundz

On July 9th, Soundway Records are set to raise the roof at San Francisco's Elbo Room nightclub as part of the launch of the summer's most talked about compilations, "Palenque Palenque! - Champeta Criolla & Afro Roots in Colombia 1975 - 1991".

The first 50 people through the door will receive a free copy of the Soundway label CD sampler, "Afro Tropical Soundz", a classy overview of some of the choice tropical dancefloor cuts that Soundway have been busy rediscovering over their nine year existence.

DJs spinning include Beto, who co-compiled the Panama! series of compilations as well as the Colombia! album that has long served as Soundway's most essential Latin release on the label.

Musically they'll be much previewing of the Palenque Palenque album which is volatile mix of Caribbean rhythms, highlife, soukous and Afrobeat with plenty of insistent and frenzied percussion that's sure to bring the place alight. In addition they'll be a heady blend of the classic Cumbia, Salsa, Descarga and Boogaloo that Beto and fellow Djs Vinnie Esparza (Groove Merchant/Dis-Joint), B-Cause (Groove Merchant/4onefunk) and Guillermo (Sweater Funk) are known for.
