Golden Gate Bridge
Surely the Golden Gate Bridge is THE symbol that people all over the world associate with San Francisco. The strait that it is built over is also called the Golden Gate; the name itself comes from the name of the strait that separates Europes from Asia, the Golden Horn of Instanbul. The Golden Gate is not the longest bridge to San Francisco- that honor goes to the Bay Bridge, which connects the city to Oakland.
Cable Car
Is there anything more typically San Francisco than the cable car? There is nothing with a longer tradition in this city. Nowadays, those of us who live here don't ride them; we leave that for tourists who wait in long lines on Market Street to take their picture on the famous cable bar.
Disney on Ice
Disney on Ice's "Worlds of Fantasy" opens at the HP Pavilion in San Jose Wednesday February 24, playing through Sunday before opening at the Oracle Arena in Oakland on March 3-7. The show opened for a 70 city, two-year tour in August 2008, and features enough spinning, jumping and cool effects on ice to thrill anyone.
