Located on 16th St. between Guerrero and Valencia, Elixir has the ideal location for a night of barhopping in the Mission. But you may want to arrive early and stay awhile- Elixir has great drinks at great prices, and a fun, interesting clientele that crowds the bar as it gets later and later. Plus, Elixir has a long history that most casual visitors have no idea about.

Tonga Room
Hidden on Nob Hill, below the lobby of the Fairmont Hotel, down a long hallway, you'll find The Tonga Room, one of San Francisco's most historic bars. Established in 1945, the Tonga Room has been a destination for both San Francisco natives and tourists alike for years. Though the bar was threatened with closure in recent years, it is still going strong, serving up South Pacific-themed food and cocktails Wednesdays through Sundays.

Grapefruit Royale
Solstice Bar in Pacific Heights has got a great location, great drinks, and a great ambience. Add a few friends or a romantic date and you've got the perfect mix for a wonderful night out in this part of town. If you live in the neighborhood, it's a great neighborhood bar, and if you live elsewhere, it's well worth visiting.

Irish Bank
Whether you're Irish all year round or only on St. Patrick's Day, the time has come to raise a glass and toast the Emerald Isle. If you're in San Francisco, one great place to celebrate the holiday is The Irish Bank Bar & Restaurant, just a few blocks from Union Square. The pub fare is good, the beer is...well, beer, and the ambience on the outdoor patio is always festive.
