OSS 117: Lost in Rio

Let's just say it here: France is not usually known for its comedies. Romantic melodramas, period pieces maybe, but definitely not comedies. And this is why the OSS 117 films are so great: they're French comedies that will literally make you laugh out loud for the entire movie. If you liked Austin Powers, you'll love "OSS 117: Lost in Brazil".

Lost in Brazil is the sequel to the hit comedy "OSS 117: Cairo, nest of spies", itself based on a series of spy novels from the 1960's featuring the bumbling yet dashing international spy, Hubert Bonnisseur de la Bathe. As handsome as James Bond but as clueless as the Pink Panther, Agent 117 flashes his charming smile, offends plenty of locals in the exotic locales where he is on assignment, and through sheer luck ends up unmasking the bad guy at the end. The first movie saw Agent 117 in the Muslim world yelling at a muezzin to be quiet, as the dawn call to prayer from the local minaret had woken him up too early. The second installment in this series sees him in Brazil, paired with a beautiful Israeli agent. What kind of madcap adventures will France's most bumbling secret agent encounter in Rio de Janeiro? There is only one way to find out. "OSS 117: Lost in Brazil" is now playing in select theaters in the Bay Area; be sure to check it out. Allez!
