Wall Street 2
Usually, long-awaited sequels don't come out twenty years after the first movie's release. After all that time, any possible sequel ideas would have already been done. Obviously, this is not the case with the sequel to "Wall Street". While Gordon Gecko was behind bars, Oliver Stone had the time to establish his credentials as a director and find the right script to set his sights once again on the world of Wall Street. Some cynics would even say that he's been waiting for a crisis like the current one to get back to work on this project.
The role- not the character per se but the role in the plot- of Charlie Sheen as the wizard's apprentice is played this time around by a rising star, Shia La Beouf, who's recently been seen in the latest Indiana Jones sequel and the Transformers movies. He certainly has a bright future ahead of him in Hollywood (or at least we hope his career turns out better than Charlie Sheen's). Sheen is now languishing in a second-rate TV show after throwing aside a promising movie career- proof that the company one keeps is important, even one's drinking buddies.
You wll not be left feeling defrauded by "Wall Street 2", especially if you liked the first one. Fast-paced, solid plot and great performances all in one of Stone's best movies in a long time. However, we recommend seeing the first "Wall Street" before seeing the new one, even if it's just to see how technology has changed- like brick-sized mobile phones or comically huge computer screens. And don't forget the horrific 80's hairstyles of actresses like Daryl Hannah.
