Psycho

Psycho

My first visit to the beautiful Davies Symphony Hall was earlier this year to watch Charlie Chaplin’s silent classic “Gold Rush” with the original score being played by the San Francisco Symphony. For the 2010 Symphony Summer Series there is another event that promises to be just as incredible. On July 17, the San Francisco Symphony performs Bernard Herrmann’s original score live alongside Alfred Hitchcock’s "Psycho".

This iconic film impacted the silver screen and shocked audiences 50 years ago with its blood and violence.  Not only did the music enhance the film, but according to various sources- including the Wall Street Journal- it may have actually saved the film.  By all standards, "Psycho" and the accompanying music are classic and are guaranteed to entertain the audience at Symphony Hall.  Just in case you are unfamiliar with the movie, or know it well and would like a little teaser before buying your ticket, check out this modern re-imagining of the "Psycho" trailer.
