Massive Attack
While I am a live music fan I generally steer clear of dance music and DJs, opting more for live music (with instruments) at local venues. In this case I was excited to learn about a concert combining a historic venue in San Francisco, The Warfield, and a British music duo, Massive Attack, coming to San Francisco in May.
Massive Attack is a collaborative British music production duo that works alongside co-producers, various musicians and guest vocalists to create a very unique sound. While their style is somewhat experimental, according to sources the duo is considered to be the progenitors of the trip hop genre. Some of their most noted songs have been without choruses and have featured dramatically atmospheric dynamics, often underpinned by high production values. The music itself has been featured in many productions, from ski movies to surf movies to, of course, the theme to the hit TV show "House" (get a preview of the Massive Attack live show experience here). For those unfamiliar with the duo, the Massive Attack website has some tracks worth listening to.
The event will be for three days at the Warfield theater, and while the show sold out almost immediately, there are still options for buying tickets, including Ticketmaster, Craigslist, and of course the scalpers the night of the show. In fact, I recently found 2 tickets for near-face value on Craigslist.
