DJ Kool Kyle

If you have ever been to the El Superritmo show at the Make Out Room every Saturday night in San Francisco, you know both Roger Mas and El Kool Kyle mean business. These guys seamlessly mix so many Caribbean styles that you can be forgiven for not noticing you were dancing a bomba, but now it’s a cumbia that is turning into reggae dancehall.

We’ve profiled Roger Mas earlier, so now it’s Kool Kyle’s turn – and DJ Kool Kyle is good at what he does. This Bay Area native, whose roots are deep in the local Hip Hop scene, is really good at what he does. I have looked over his shoulder as he did his thing at a smaller venue, and let me tell you, he has spent time honing his craft, and his mixes are always interesting and danceable. Kool Kyle, who creates the Baylando series of mix tapes, also works with local Latin Hip Hop groups like Deuce Eclipse and Santero . According to a recent interview, he described his playlist as “funky ghetto, dance music from the past and present that simmers out of the many barrios of Planet Earth (especially Colombia, Jamaica, Africa, The Balkans & The USA)”.

Let his music speak for itself – come out to the Make Out Room and see him in action!
