AsiaSF
Now in its 13th year, AsiaSF provides the best venue possible for your special event, whether it's a birthday party, anniversary, or bachelorette party. You can eat, drink and dance anywhere in SF, but where else can you do all of that while watching lovely, transgender performers sing and dance every hour atop the bar?
Located in the hot SOMA neighborhood, AsiaSF has two levels. As you enter, you enter a large restaurant space with long tables around the perimeter and a bar in the center. The dining is ideal for large groups, and food is served family style, with several small plates arriving at your table, all of which are best-described as Asian fusion, and all of which are very good. We loved the miso-glazed salmon and the truffled soba noodles, and the mini-ice cream cones that came for dessert were great as well. The cocktails are all superb (served in huge glasses), and the wine list has been highlighted by none other than Wine Spectator magazine.
Although the food and drinks are tasty, let's face it, they are not the reason to come to AsiaSF. The reason for coming is to see a variety of Asian transgender performers lip sync and dance to various songs, from current pop hits to oldies but goodies. The quality of the performers varies (a couple of them didn't do much besides sway their hips), but most of them will impress with their athletic and sensual dance moves. Oh, and they all look very good, from hair to makeup to costumes!
Finish off your evening downstairs on the dance floor, and you've got a great evening with friends, family or coworkers to remember!
