Grapefruit Royale

Grapefruit Royale

Solstice Bar in Pacific Heights has got a great location, great drinks, and a great ambience. Add a few friends or a romantic date and you've got the perfect mix for a wonderful night out in this part of town.  If you live in the neighborhood, it's a great neighborhood bar, and if you live elsewhere, it's well worth visiting.

Solstice has a great location, right on California at the corner of Divisadero. Whether you're taking the 22 Fillmore bus from the Haight or Mission, the 24 Divisadero bus from the Castro, or the 1 line from downtown or the Sunset, Solstice lies at the crossroads of several neighborhoods. Once inside, you have the choice of ordering from a decent menu- I've enjoyed the fries, and I hear the artichoke dip is good- and an even better cocktail menu. The Grapefruit Royale allows you to get your daily dose of vitamin C while enjoying a delicious martini. Forget the Cosmopolitan, I'll take a grapefruit martini, thank you very much.

There is also a good selection of beer and wine (try the Viognier). The ambience is relaxed- whether you're the only in in the bar or the place is packed, service is good and it never gets so noisy that you can't hear the person you're talking to. Try coming in for Happy Hour one night. You'll enjoy it.
