Dosa Restaurant
It's been shown that many aspects of Indian culture make us more understanding and more conscious of what is truly important in life. I learned some of this when I recently ate Indian food with some friends. The chosen restaurant was Dosa on Fillmore, on the corner of Post.
In Latin America we have a saying: we experience everything first with the eyes. Therefore, I'll start by saying that Dosa has a sophisticated, classic and very elegant ambiance. The staff was attentive as soon as we walked through the door, and our waiter explained to us the history of Southern Indian cuisine, recommending dishes for each person at the table. At the main bar, people enjoyed Happy Hour drinks; I saw interesting people, smiles all around, and there was a true feeling of relaxation in the room.
To start, I ordered the “South Indian Samosa & Potatoes, croquettes filled with vegetables and topped with caramelized onions. For our main dish, we ordered the “Kerala Fish Moilee”, fish in coconut sauce with chili and mustard seeds, served with coconut seeds. We also ordered a “Cilantro Mint Masala” dosa, a masala dosa (a crepe made of lentils ) with layers of cilantro mint chutney. Spectacular! What a delight. Dosa is a very special place not only for dinner but also to enjoy Happy Hour with very special people.
