Espetus
Market Street is definitely not the most glamorous street in San Francisco, but on some blocks you can find a few places worth visiting. This is the case with Espetus, a Brazilian steakhouse, or churrascaria, on the corner of Market and Gough (there's also another one in San Mateo). I should start by saying that this restaurant is a bit on the expensive side.
A full meal for one person, drink and dessert included, could come to $60. You definitely leave satisfied with the quality of the food and the quantity: you can eat as much as you want but unfortunately, dessert is not included in this "free buffet". Once seated, your waiter explains to you how the food is served, if you don't already know. You begin with the lighter side of the menu; that is, salads and other light and "healthy" appetizers where you can eat as much as you want. This is a good option for anyone who makes the mistake of going with a vegetarian- maybe there are people out there who don't mind paying $60 for a prix fixe meal of nothing but salad.
After the salad, you get the main course: the waiters bring as much as 14 different types of meat to the table, and you can have as much as you'd like. The table is equipped with a device that lets you spin a wheel if you want (or don't want) more meat brought to the table. We spun the wheel until we had to stop and catch our breath so that we could continue the attack and try the picanha, coxa de frango or the camarao asado.
Lastly, you must try the pudding and tres leches cake. If only they had an all you can eat deal for those two desserts....
