Woodhouse
In San Francisco, it's not always easy to find restaurants that offer a wide selection of seafood, which is why Woodhouse Fish Company is a good choice, if what you want is a solid meal of fish or seafood. There are two locations, one on Market, right across from the Safeway, and another on Fillmore.
The Woodhouse menu offers several options, but my favorite is the Fresh Maine Lobster Sandwich ($17 for the 3 ounce version and $25 for the 6 ounce). It's an uncomplicated dish with extraordinary flavor, served with French fries and a small salad. For those who don't come very hungry, the portions are more than enough to leave you satisfied.
As an appetizer, it is a tough choice between the calamari and the clams from Ipswich (Massachussetts, not the United Kingdom). And for those who are not big fans of lobster, you can always enjoy the classic fish and chips or the cioppino, the latter of which is a San Francisco classic.
The restaurant is small, and although I've never had to wait long to be seated, Woodhouse is not good for large groups.
